POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Truckee Donner Public Utility District is a customer-owned electric and water utility located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains. The District is seeking a candidate that has knowledge of, and looking to gain experience in, the following technologies and skills: ArcGIS Mapping Software, Autodesk CAD Software, GPS data collection, Electric distribution construction standards/specifications, and easement permitting. This position will be divided between gathering data in the field and preparing maps and drawings in GIS and CAD applications in the office. This is a temporary position working in the late spring and summer months, depending on candidate availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrolled in and completion of at least two years in a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university or possession of an Engineer-in-Training certification
  • Knowledge and experience of AutoCAD and PC applications (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Possession of a valid Class C license with acceptable driving history
  • Walking outdoors on uneven terrain for long periods of the day documenting information
  • Sitting for long periods of time in front of a computer inputting information collected

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Associate Staff Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. This position is located within the Traffic Safety Engineering Division. The incumbent’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing engineering reviews of crash data analysis and participates in the design and analysis of the programs listed in the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP)
  • Preparing, drafting, and checking design elements related to the production of safety projects, such as Safety Management Plans (SMPS)
  • Conducting safety project meetings and coordinating with NDOT divisions, local agencies consultants, and conducting preliminary project quantity calculations, cost estimation, Highway Safety Manual Analysis (HSM), before and after studies for safety projects
  • Other research/studies related to safety
