POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Sundance Digital Signal Processing is looking for a Firmware Engineer Intern that is interested in FPGA firmware design, embedded software, and digital and analog design. The Firmware Engineer should have experience with VHDL, Verilog, C/C++, and Matlab. Compensation is offered based on qualification and experience. Sundance required the candidate to work between twenty and forty hours per week, but the company is flexible with hours.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Studying for BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • For undergraduates, one who has successfully complete the first two years of a three-year course

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position will support engineering needs for the production department and identify process and continuous improvement initiatives through the use of lean manufacturing, six sigma and other team-based, structured problem-solving methods.  This position will perform engineering tasks related to product and process time standards, production and manpower planning, capital projects and process design, startup and modification.  The schedule for this position would be worked around the student’s class schedule as needed.
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Interface directly with all levels of manufacturing and product engineering, and be responsible for process improvements and controls, machine capacity/capability studies, equipment selection and qualification, and adherence to company procedures and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing equipment issues, and write engineering documents to support changes.
  • Assist in design, maintenance and interpretation of meaningful and accurate performance measurement systems to increase production efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Design, procure, and implement fabrication, fixture and manufacturing equipment.
  • Identify and meet the need for application of lean manufacturing/continuous improvement methods, including development and execution of productive maintenance and corrective and preventative action plans & systems.
  • Enforce and implement safety policies and programs, meet operating budgets, complete continuous improvement plans, and coach employees on behavior/performance issues and initiate disciplinary actions if required.
  • Additional related duties as required.
