Staff 1, Associate Engineer | NDOT
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the Materials Division in Carson City. Incumbent assists in the exploration, development, and certification of material sites for statewide highway construction and maintenance projects. Duties include reading and creating geological literature and maps; conducting seismic surveys; collecting and logging drilled rock core and auger drilling and monitoring others doing sample work using excavators and drill rigs; researching geology and land status; contracting land owners and land managers as needed; collecting field data and field notes and compiling reports. Information products produced include various maps, data reports, field logs and field notes, and calculations of quantities and distribution of test data. Maps, reports, and calculations are used by NDOT internally and distributed to outside government and private end users.
