General Electric is looking for Mechanical Engineers to evaluate machinery condition based on vibration behavior and process data; rotordynamic analysis; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining protection/monitoring system hardware & software; and installing temporary vibration instrumentation to diagnose machinery faults.  Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnose machinery problems based upon: vibration data, operational data, and customer communications
  • Be knowledgeable and experience diagnosing machinery related problems using advanced System 1 capabilities, including Bently Performance
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Be a team player – working closely with Sales, Services, Product Line/Customer Experience, Technical Support, Engineering / Technology and Marketing
  • Strong focus on delivering value to our customers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
  • Create, review and interpret technical reports
  • Professionally communicate with customer and other team members


  • Travel 20% of the time to work at customers’ sites
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Possess or ability to obtain a passport
  • Obtain TWIC Card


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with rotating equipment (Steam Turbines, Compressors, Gas Turbines, Pumps, Motors, Fans, Hydro Turbines, Wind Turbines, etc.) in the Power Generation, Oil Refining, Petro-Chemical or similar industry is preferred
  • Course / laboratory experience in applicable power cycles (Rankine, Brayton, Otto, and Stirling) or Petroleum Engineering and/or intern experience in a related field will be considered
  • Machinery Knowledge (Steam Turbines, Compressors, Gas Turbines, Pumps, Motors, Fans, Hydro Turbines, Wind Turbines, etc.)
  • Knowledge or experience with AT LEAST one or more of the following: mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotordynamic analysis, machinery balancing and alignment
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems
  • Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems
  • Industry Process knowledge (Power Generation, Oil Refinery, LNG, Fertilizer, Ethylene,…)
  • Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies such as: oil analysis, thermography, online / off-line motor testing, and/or ultrasonics
  • ISO Cat 2 Vibration Analyst certified
  • Mechanical & Electrical trouble shooting skills; “Hands-on approach”
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings
