MECHANICAL ENGINEER | BEALE AIR FORCE BASE 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Beal Air Force Base is seeking a Mechanical Engineer within the 9th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Engineering Flight. This is a Project Management position. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing design work for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering
  • Performing design work of a conventional nature without technical instruction or guidance and identifying limits of the problems involved; design projects are related to a wide variety of mechanical systems such as heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC); water and sewage (plumbing); fire suppression, control and alarm systems; etc. which interface with other engineering specializations and are typically large or complex
  • Providing technical review of A&E design calculations, cost estimates, analyses, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Monitoring/managing construction projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities from start to finish including the performance of preconstruction site surveys all the way to completion of as-built drawings
  • Performing requirements programming in support of base development for O&M, military construction programs (MCP), non-appropriated fund (NAF), military family housing (MFH), etc. to include validating requirements, performing economic analyses, and coordinating with the installation facilities board

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • United States citizenship required
  • Must be registered for Selective Service
  • Professional engineering degree at a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum OR a combination of education and experience (i.e. college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering and a good understanding, both of theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
  • One year of experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position OR three full years of progressively high level graduate education in a field related to the position being filled or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, if related
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts, principles, practices, and familiarity with other engineering disciplines and architecture
