ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP | ADVANCED MATERIALS AND DEVICES

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Two open positions are available at Advanced Materials and Devices for engineering internships in the area of Mechanical Engineering with a background or interest in electromechanical systems and mechatronics. The first internship position is expected to be between fifteen and twenty hours per week. Between one and two hirings are expected under this position. Duties for the first internship position include, but are not limited to:

  • Writing Labview programs and installing instrumentation
  • Conducting experiments on materials, components, and systems
  • Designing and fabricating various elements
  • Aiding with literature searches, analyses, and simulations
  • Contacting business clients and expanding business contacts
  • Writing and editing proposals and reports
  • Developing innovative ideas

The second internship position is a temporary position for a possible period of performance of early December 2017 through the end of January 2018, with a possible extension of internship based on performance and skills; three to five hirings are expected under this position. This position is for close monitoring of a test program that requires data collection, visual inspection of test items, writing test and inspection reports, and working with senior engineers regarding the test program. The available shifts for this position are from 4Pm to 12PM and 12AM to 8AM.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for the first internship position should possess as many of the following as possible:

  • Experience in Labview, data acquisition, and electronics
  • Experience in Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience in Solidworks and/or Autodesk
  • Basic machining and fabrication skills
  • Enthusiasm about research and developing ideas and concepts
  • Self-motivation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Skill in various engineering computer programs for design, analysis, and simulation
