As a new initiative in 2016, the Nevada Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA) will be awarding internships to deserving students in Nevada. This program will assist students in attaining their career aspirations and building a foundation of future public works leaders. There are internship opportunities funded by Nevada employers, with Nevada Chapter of APWA providing $1500 toward the funding of this internship. In order for the Board, through the Internship Committee, to make the best selection of internship recipients, we are encouraging APWA members to nominate potential candidates. The submittal deadline for the internship is April 28, 2016. This specific internship is with Construction Materials Engineers, Inc. (CME) of Reno, Nevada.
- Interns will be paid $10/hour minimum, with expectation of 30 to 40 hours per week.
- Interns will be employees of CME.
- The internship will last 8 to 12 weeks and may be extended at the discretion of the employer and the Intern.
- Expected duties could be in one of several areas; field materials testing, materials testing in the lab, construction inspection, construction management, and engineering.
