INNOVATION ASSOCIATE | UNR TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER OFFICE
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation and the College of Engineering are pleased to announce the creation of the UNR Innovation Fellowship. The inaugural UNR Innovation Fellowship will commence with the 2014-15 academic year and will be focused on the College of Engineering.
The outcomes of the UNR Innovation Fellowship will be the development of an intellectual property asset map, enthusiastic faculty made more knowledgeable about, and engaged in, innovation and the generation of real world impact, as well as the potential for financial benefits such as increased grant funding, industry sponsored research, and royalties to departments through commercialized intellectual property. The Innovation Fellow will gain exposure to a wide range of cutting edge scientific research, and experience in technology assessment, protection, and commercialization.
The Innovation Fellow will be an outgoing, curious, and energetic graduate student that will engage faculty members and other students in the various departments of the College of Engineering. Along with raising the general awareness of innovation and technology development, the student will interview research groups in the college/school to evaluate current and proposed research projects to identify technologies with the potential to be developed into a product or service. The student will work closely with the innovators and the Technology Transfer Office as the intellectual property asset map is developed, so that promising technologies and intellectual property can be protected. For faculty interested in getting more involved in entrepreneurial and innovative activities, the student will work with the Technology Transfer Office to engage faculty members in programs that will be developed for that purpose.
